As a result of the GDD being at a stage to where it could be considered "completed" I felt that it would be a good decision to begin creating a level to get implemented into the project. At this point I am yet to have a good experience using Probuilder so I opted towards creating the level directly in Blender.
I personally felt like the best bet was to develop the Aviation level which is set within a plane as the level would be notable to the player and something unique. This choice resulted in some challenges however as I am not too confident in the creation of vehicular assets so to create a full sized plane would prove a big test.
Based on the fact that Probuilder was not being used for the creation of the level I needed to gauge the scaling of the environment and player in comparison to the model. In order to do this I created the shell of the plane in blender using an image as reference and added the model inside of unity.
Following testing the scaling in playmode to gauge the sizing of the model and subsequently making changes, I felt as though this would be a good point to stop work for the week on this project and move on to working on other assignments that are due in the near future. Whilst from a first view It could be perceived, at least from a personal perspective that I have not done a lot of work during this week, I feel as though it is important to reflect on the fact that level design is a long form part of game development and environments will always face iteration. As a result of this in general, I am happy with what I achieved during this week, of course more could have been potentially done but as previously mentioned I have other assignments to tend to.
This point leads quite nicely into discussing what tasks I am setting for myself in the upcoming week/weeks. Simply put I will not be focusing on this project for a little while whilst I finalise some other assignments that require my sole attention until the deadline. Whilst yes this is problematic, I plan to solve this issue following this time period by dedicating a large amount of time to the development project.
