This is the first blog for the development of my final year project Breach, tactical first person shooter with the unique selling point (USP) of integrating voice commands during gameplay. During this week work began on conceptualising my idea and coming up with potential paths in which the game could go in.

Originally the game that I first landed upon was going to be an extraction shooter set in a post apocalyptic landscape. I landed upon this idea by taking inspiration from a few of my favourite games which surround a similar setting of post apocalyptic. By using Miro I created a board in order to brainstorm ideas and establish a base for the potential game. Furthermore, this included information regarding goals of the project and how said goals will be achieved.

As time went on I became more and more less interested in perusing this idea and began concepting other potential suitors to work on. As a result of this I landed upon the idea of creating a more realistic style of tactical shooter as I felt that it would allow me to test my design capabilities in a field that I am familiar with.

Now that the game idea was established it was time to begin creating a framework that I can later develop as time goes on. I felt that in order to best achieve the product that I am looking for it would be beneficial to purchase an asset from the Unity Asset Store as I would not be graded on programming for this assignment. Based on the fact that it was on sale and I saw it as a good suiter overall for the project I decided upon purchasing FPS Engine by COWSINS.

The rest of this week focused on integrating the asset into a HDRP Unity project and becoming more comfortable to how it works so that I could begin implementing my own systems.
